Men's Health in Focus: The Power of Hydration

Turning the act of drinking water into a daily habit not only enhances your overall well-being but also strengthens your defense against infections and the dreaded formation of kidney stones. The goal is clear: aim to consume between 1.5 and 2 liters of water each day to keep that internal engine running at full throttle. But here's a golden tip for men on the go or for those who value their nighttime rest as a treasure: moderate your fluid intake before embarking on long days or just before surrendering to sleep. This simple strategy will save you nighttime bathroom visits, ensuring uninterrupted rest or a journey without unnecessary stops.

Understanding the Gleason Score

Let's delve into a crucial tool in the battle against prostate cancer: the Gleason score. Developed in 1966 by Dr. Donald Gleason, this system is nothing short of a compass for navigating the aggressiveness of prostate cancer. By observing how closely cancer cells resemble normal prostate tissue under the microscope, doctors can predict the ferocity of the cancer. Here's the breakdown: A grade 1 means the cancer appears almost normal and is less aggressive. A grade 5 indicates a high level of abnormality and aggressiveness. Grades 2 to 4 reflect intermediate aggressiveness. With the Gleason score, composed of a primary and a secondary grade (both between 1 and 5), specialists have a clearer picture of what to expect and how to combat it. It's important to know that cancer with higher grades is more likely to metastasize, especially in grades 4 and 5. This knowledge is power. With it, we can confront prostate cancer with an informed and precise strategy.

Focalyx® Fusion. Exact and precise location that preserves your quality of life

Focalyx® Fusion is an innovative software that allows the superimposition of images obtained from MRI and ultrasound. The outline of the prostate is introduced and both silhouettes are superimposed. The result is a highly precise 3D image of the patient's gland, in which it is possible to locate suspicious lesions similar to a highly precise GPS. The diagnosed lesion is then safely removed without jeopardizing sexual function. Thanks to this procedure, an exact and more certain location of an aggressive tumor is achieved. The diagnosed lesion is safely removed without jeopardizing sexual function.

On the National Doctor's Day, we remember and honor the important work of these professionals who dedicate their lives to caring for the health of others. The celebration of this date has its origins on March 30, 1933, when the wife of a doctor residing in Barrow County Alliance, Winder, Georgia, decided to recognize the tireless work of all doctors. On March 30, 1958, it was officially recognized by the United States House of Representatives through a special resolution, dedicating a special day to honor those who work tirelessly for the health and well-being of their patients. On this Doctor's Day, we express our sincere gratitude to all doctors for their dedication and commitment to the health and well-being of humanity. 3 things you should know about prostate cancer in young men

Preserve your urinary and sexual functions with our treatment.

Prostate cancer normally occurs in older men, the average age of diagnosis is 66 years, only 10% of men under 55 years of age develop the disease. Nevertheless, younger people should have information about the disease, the diagnostic tests and the treatment, in case they develop it:
  1. Early-onset prostate cancer may be more aggressive: The earlier the disease develops, the more aggressive it usually is.
  2. Family history affects risk: There is an important genetic factor in the development of prostate cancer in young men. Variants in genes such as BRCA2 or BRCA1 mark the risk, as occurs with breast cancer.
  3. Early prostate cancer usually does not cause any symptoms.

Chronic stress and prostate cancer

Researchers from the University of Buenos Aires studied the variations of a hormone produced by the body in situations of stress and discovered that these events interact with a prostate cancer marker. “Until now, scientists knew that cortisol, a hormone that arises in response to chronic stress, was involved in the development of certain diseases.

What this team of scientists from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) has identified is that cases of stress lead to an increase in cortisol levels, which impacts the prostate cancer tumor marker, known as PSA (PSA). specific prostate). And according to estimates by psychologists who are experts in stress, around 42% of people suffer from stress frequently.

“We observed that cortisol would interact with life events, increasing the levels of prostate-specific antigen,” adds Fabre. Although these studies are not definitive, it is important to note that chronic stress can affect your health”

Avoid these foods and take care of your prostate

A healthy diet for an enlarged prostate involves not only consuming beneficial foods but also avoiding those that are not prostate-friendly. Among the foods to avoid are:

  1. Red meat, due to its high content of saturated fats that can increase inflammation.

  2. Caffeine, which can act as a diuretic, increasing the amount, frequency, and urgency of urination.

  3. Alcohol, excessive consumption of which can negatively impact various body systems, including the prostate, and increase the risk of developing prostate cancer.

Sodium, as high intake can exacerbate urinary tract symptoms associated with BPH.

Reducing the consumption of these foods as part of a balanced diet can have a beneficial effect on prostate growth and muscle tone.

What is bladder cancer?

Bladder cancer, also known as carcinoma of the bladder, occurs when the cells of this organ start to multiply uncontrollably. The bladder is a hollow, balloon-shaped organ where urine is stored, located in the lower abdomen.

Symptoms of bladder cancer can vary from person to person. The most common symptom is hematuria (blood in the urine), often with the urine color ranging from light brown to bright red.

Other common symptoms of bladder cancer include:

  1. Frequent need to urinate.

  2. Pain or burning sensation during urination.

  3. Feeling the need to urinate even when the bladder is not full.

  4. Waking up multiple times during the night to urinate.

It's important to consult with the medical team if you experience any of these symptoms. Keep in mind that these symptoms can be attributed to urinary infections, kidney or bladder stones, or other kidney-related issues, and not necessarily to cancer. Cold and rainy weather vs. Prostate Cancer

Researchers from the University of Idaho in the United States claim that cold and rainy climates may be linked to a higher incidence of prostate cancer. They argue that low temperatures delay the degradation of certain organic pollutants, such as pesticides or industrial byproducts, which are related to the development of these tumors. Furthermore, according to the findings of these experts published in the International Journal of Health Geographics, low exposure to ultraviolet rays leads to vitamin D deficiencies and an increased risk of cancer.
