Frans Debruyne, MD, PhD was previously Professor and Chairman of the Department of Urology at the University Medical Center Nijmegen in The Netherlands. Currently, Dr. Debruyen is Medical Director of Andros, the first private urogenital men's health institute for the aging male opened in September 2004.
He served as president of the European Association of Urologists (EAU) from 1992-2004. In 2006 the EAU honored Dr. Debruyne's contributions by instituting the Frans Debruyne Lifetime Achievement award, given to honor and acknowledge the important and long-standing contributions by a distinguished colleague to the activities and development of the EAU. Among his many awards and recognitions, in 2010 Dr. Debruyne was awarded the Willy Gregoir Medal, which is the highest honor the EAU can bestow on a urological professional. His research has contributed to extensive publications, with special interest in prostate cancer
